Better understanding to discover all the possibilities
What if gyro-stabilized cameras weren’t just for aerial photography?
Directors, cinematographers, a whole new world opens up for you with gyrostabilized cameras. Whether you’re on a boat, in a car, in a helicopter or shooting aerial footage, for documentaries, fiction, sports, concerts, commercials, feature films, industrial films or scientific research, the range of applications for these cameras is immense.

Gyro-stabilized cameras,
an infinite field of possibilities
Gyro-stabilized cameras are devices that use gyroscopes to compensate for unwanted movement and vibration. This helps maintain a stable image, even when the camera is in rapid motion, exposed to wind, or used in unstable environments.
Of course, aerial photography immediately springs to mind, as the system’s ability to produce spectacular images needs no further demonstration. But you may not realize the potential of these cameras. They can be installed on a boat, a car, a crane, a plane or a helicopter.
They capture the action seamlessly, even at high speed.
The images shot are more immersive, as they allow the viewer to follow the action closely, without being distracted by sudden movements or jolts.
Gyro-stabilized cameras are versatile and indispensable tools for all situations requiring stable shooting on the move.
At the extreme, you can film sunspots with a landscape in the foreground, follow a character in tracking shot at a focal length of 1000 mm with a camera mounted on a car, all with perfect fluidity. Follow a car chase, accompany a cyclist in an effort, approach a storm while keeping the image perfectly sharp and fluid…
The list is endless and limited only by the imagination.

At your service
Gyro-stabilized cameras can transform your shots, and you should consider integrating them into your projects to achieve truly sensational images.
Papa Sierra can work with you to determine exactly how gyro-stabilized cameras can fit into your specific projects, helping you choose the right equipment, plan your shots, and fully exploit the benefits of these cameras.
By using gyro-stabilized cameras, you can not only improve the technical quality of your shots, but also enhance the emotional and visual impact of your projects.Feasibility, safety, authorizations, Papa Sierra is there to guide you and refine your choices.

And what about drones?
Modern drones are fantastic, and represent a major advance in the range of tools available to filmmakers. Whatever the tool, each has its own areas of predilection and its own limits.
The drone is light, inexpensive, quick to set up on site, and allows very close-up shots with wide focal lengths, in relatively calm weather.
Although some of our operators also hold drone pilot’s licenses in Europe and the USA, our speciality is gyro-stabilized cameras, which are heavy but incredibly stable and powerful, incorporating wide-angle zooms or cinema-dedicated optics. Once installed on a vehicle, movement is fast and efficient, and the choice of frames is easy for the director or cinematographer on board, who have an overall view of the environment or scene. Wind force has no impact on image quality.
The operator-pilot pair will take advantage of the power available to them in all flight conditions, according to the needs of the shoot.
There’s no competition between the two systems. They each have their place, and we often work with productions that integrate UAVs and stabilized cameras on helicopters or land vehicles.
How does it work?

Modern stabilized cameras such as Shotover, Cineflex or GSS use active compensation, their electronic gyroscopes controlling motors and electromagnets to provide perfect fluidity in all axes. Mounted on any vehicle, they can accommodate cameras such as Arriflex or RED up to 8k.
Imagine filming a close-up of a sailor’s face in tracking shot, while standing dozens of meters away in the middle of a storm, and then finishing your shot high up on the silhouette of a lighthouse submerged by the waves, seen through the clouds… for example 🙂
On which shoots will we find our cameras?
- Sports images such as bike races or car rallies, often with live 4K transmission
- Major film and televisiondocumentaries that require rich, precise frames and perspectives
- Television programs that require a large number of sites to be filmed over long distances in a short space of time.
- Feature films for a variety of shots, from dynamic action scenes to the contemplation of landscapes and monuments.
And abroad?
We have sent camera systems, operators and technicians all over the world, to work in the midst of the great cities of China and Egypt, in the far north of Siberia, in the icy deserts of Antarctica or the scorching heat of the Sahara.
We’ll help you choose the right system for the job, based on your shooting requirements and any local permits and regulations.
